OUR STORY
Indonesia is one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth, spanning three major biogeographic regions, and is home to an extraordinary wealth of species and ecosystems. Yet high-quality natural history literature on Indonesia remains extremely limited, and the finest works are often highly technical and produced overseas, making them difficult to access, especially for Indonesians.
Indonesia Natural History Publishing was founded to help bridge this gap. Our goal is to produce exceptional publications in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, making knowledge of Indonesian biodiversity more accessible to Indonesian and international audiences alike, while supporting Indonesian scientists, artists, and naturalists to communicate their work. Most importantly, we aim to foster a deeper appreciation for Indonesia’s natural heritage, and inspire a stronger connection with the natural world.
Working closely with scientists, photographers, and other experts, we combine scientific accuracy with compelling storytelling and thoughtful design. Each book is carefully crafted for a specific audience, to help everyone reconnect with nature. To achieve this, our publications range from specialist references and field guides to children's books and colourful posters, to reach a wider audience.
We will not protect what we do not love. Given the current state of Indonesia's natural heritage, documenting it and getting people to connect with nature has never been more urgent. We believe that good literature can do what hard data and statistics cannot: make people fall in love with the natural world. And love, in the end, is what moves people to protect something.
